No, not "An Inconvenient Truth"- although I've heard it's good (still haven't seen it).
No, not some major production from la-la-land.
I'm talking about the documentary, "Who Killed the Electric Car?", which is in theatres and is very, very good. It really researches the question, and in doing so, takes us very deep into the whole concept of electric cars. I first heard of this movie at Solfest, when I sat next to Steve Heckeroth on an alt fuels panel. Heck was promoting the movie with his t-shirt.
Steve has always been one of my renewable energy gurus (other local ones include Doug Livingston, Jeff Oldham, Doug Pratt, Michael Hackleman, to name just a few), but I didn't realize that he worked with Stanford R. Ovshinsky, who is my new absolute top-of-the-pyramid R.E. Guru bar-none! Damn, this guy is amazing. He essentially invented the modern nickle-metal hydride battery, which already should have made electric cars THE THING to drive (see the movie!), not to mention founding Unisolar, the company that came up with "spray-on" thin film solar panels, which make photovoltaics much cheaper and easier.

Stanford R. Ovshinsky, you the man!
